Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday filed a separate plea for submission of additional documents in Islamabad High Court (IHC) in Al-Azizia reference case. The new petition sought submission of additional documents in the case seeking suspension of sentence and bail on his deteriorating health conditions.

It was pleaded that the petitioner should be permitted to submit medical reports and other related records including reports released by four-member medical board of Jinnah Hospital Lahore and special medical board of Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).

In his petition, the former prime minister, who is currently undergoing treatment at Jinnah hospital in Lahore, pleaded the court that he needs further medical treatment in the hospital. "I'm being discharged from the hospital to be sent back to jail when in fact, I need further treatment," Sharif said, in his petition, filed with IHC by his counsel Khawaja Haris.

Haris said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo has sought permission from the court for submitting additional documents about his health condition. The IHC had on Monday adjourned the bail plea of Nawaz Sharif on medical grounds till February 20.

Meanwhile, Punjab Information and Culture Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan on Tuesday said Sharif family is using the illness of incarcerated former premier to gain political advantage. Speaking the media, Chohan said, "A fuss was made over this matter. All the medical reports of Nawaz Sharif are normal." The provincial minister said the former prime minister is making fun of himself. "He refused to stay in the cardiology ward and instead settled in a room in the gynaecology ward," Chohan said.
